You can immediately take it outside and begin enjoying it without any weatherproofing, as the natural teak oils protect against moisture and insect attacks. Over the course of a season, the golden tan tone will soften to a silver-grey patina. This change in color has no effect on the strength of the teak wood and is sought after by antique furniture collectors.
While we recommend you let the wood naturally age, you may instead choose to coat your item with London Teak oil to lock in the original teak color. If lightly applied at the beginning and end of each teak season, your teak furniture investment will appear brand new for decades to come.
